Kristen Bell Talks About Her 'Heroes' Role

Kristen Bell (photosKristen Bell photos) has done her first interview since she was cast on 'Heroes' and offered some thoughts on how she landed the gig and why 'Lost' just didn't work out.

Speaking to TV Guide's Michael Ausiello, Kristen described how the chance came about: "I was actually sitting on the train from San Diego with Zachary Quinto and Masi Oka, and some of the writers were on the train and they were like, 'Hey, if you ever want to come on Heroes, give us a call!' And I sort of joked back, 'I'd love that!' Later on I said to Zach, 'Hey, if they were serious, I would love to work with you guys.' And somehow, somebody made it happen."

She said the smaller role on 'Heroes', instead of the larger committment a regular role on 'Lost' would have required was appealing: "I am kind of in the luckiest position possible, because they're allowing me to leave it open-ended. So, yeah, that was extremely appealing."

Kristen also confirmed, as we speculated earlier, that being able to stay in Los Angeles was another big factor in her deciding to turn down 'Lost' and said: "I was honored to even be considered by Lost. I really, really was, because I love that show."

She will appear in 13 episodes for 'Heroes' during the first half of the season but didn't want to give up any secrets on the role: "I know a a lot. I think I know everything. But I think the only things that are allowed to be out there are what was in the press release. It's going to be a really, really fun character — that much I can tell you." The release states (minor spoilers) that Elle, her character, ties to Peter's supposed death, HRG's past and Claire's future.

She also hinted that she may not be on the side of the Heroes: "That is a possibility. It's going to be fun for me to see where she goes. I kind of hope so. It would be really nice to play the bad guy." Since Zachary Quinto, who plays Sylar, would likely take time off during the season to shoot the JJ Abrams Star Trek movie in which he plays Spock, this would make a lot of sense.
