Kirstie Alley Says Psychiatric Drugs To Blame For Las Vegas Mass Shooting

'Cheers' actress Kirstie Alley is blaming prescription medication as a factor that drove Las Vegas shooter Stephen Paddock to kill at least 58 people and injured more than 500 others at the Route 91 Harvest Festival on Sunday.

"We have to solve the mystery of why there are no 'shooters' or almost 0 before the 1980s. I know one common denominator other than guns," Alley began by saying on social media.

"One additional common denominator of 'shooters' is USA's mass usage of psychiatric drugs. A percent do have side effects of violence and suicide."

Told by an ABC reporter: "Did you really just say that? Sit down. 58 people are dead."

"Yes I did say it," Alley responded. "It happens tone a common denominator in shooters... one that didn't exist before the '80s.. not my opinion. Statistic based."

Alley said she had the "upmost sympathy" for the victims but "prayers and condolences aren't enough anymore."

The Las Vegas Review-Journal has reported that Paddock was prescribed Valium, an anti-anxiety drug in June that can lead to aggressive behavior.

The actress is a devoted Scientologist. After Leah Remini left the Church of Scientology in 2013, Alley publicly denounced Remini as "a repulsive bigot" and declared that she was now "enemy."
