Katie Couric's Daytime Talk Show To Be Called 'Katie'
ABC has released a name for Katie Couric's daytime talk show -- even though it won't start until fall of next year.
The former 'CBS Evening News' anchor's new hour-long syndicated show will simply be called 'Katie'.
Jeff Zucker, former chief executive of NBCUniversal and executive producer of 'Today', hinted at the title in June.
"Katie is a unique brand in television," he said. "The mere fact that you can just say 'Katie' and know who we are talking about is evidence of that."
Couric said in a June interview that the show would be 'topical' but stressed it was 'not a news show'.
“We want it to be topical," she said. "It's not a news show per se but we're going to talk about the news. I think for people to have an opportunity to think about issues and to talk about them is important. We're talking about a wide variety of subjects; it could be anything."
'Katie' is scheduled to premiere in the 3 PM timeslot across various ABC affiliates in September 2012.
