Kardashian Sisters Sued For $75 Million Over Kids' Debit Card

The Kardashian sisters have been hit with a $75 million lawsuit for breaking their contract with the company behind their controversial 'Kardashian Kard'.

The sisters initially promoted the card that bore their names but quickly abandoned after backlash against the hidden fees associated with the card grew exponentially.

Revenue Resource Group (RRG), the company that licensed the sister's images for a debit card aimed at kids as young as 13, is suing because it says it had a two-year contract with the Kardashians. They also claim the company suffered at least $75 million in losses following the bad publicity from the card.

"The company waited a month to file hoping this would work out. They didn't want to sue," says the company's lawyer. "It effectively put this company out of business."

The card was taken off the market in November amid controversy over its high fees, which included an annual fee of up to $100, and fees for services like ATM withdrawals, customer service phone calls and card cancellations.

The move came after Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal announced his office had launched an investigation into whether the 'Kardashian Kard' violated a Connecticut state gift card law designed to eliminate "pernicious and predatory fees."

University National Bank said 250 consumers had bought the card since its launch last month.
