Johnny Knoxville Detained At Airport Over Grenade In Luggage

Airport officials detained Johnny Knoxville, of 'Jackass' fame, on Thursday for bringing a grenade into Los Angeles International Airport after security screeners spotted the item in his carry-on luggage.

A bomb squad determined the grenade couldn't have gone off, but it was definitely no toy: "As he was being screened, security noticed an image of a hand grenade in his carry-on," said Police Sgt. Jim Holcomb. "Airport police and the bomb squad were called, and it was determined there were no explosives or firing pin."

Knoxville, whose real name is Philip John Clapp, was later released and allowed to board an American Airlines flight to Miami but his show's title now seems more appropriate than ever.

Prosecutors have yet to decide whether they will charge the 38-year-old with bringing a prohibited item into a secure area of the airport. Knoxville reportedly told officers the grenade was a prop he forgot to remove from his bag.
