JK Rowling Responds To Fans Burning Books Over Her Anti-Trump Stance

JK Rowling is responding to fans who are hitting hard at her for her anti-Donald Trump stance.

The 'Harry Potter' author has criticized Trump since he announced he was running for President of the United States and recently spoke out against his immigration and refugee ban.

"Just burned all my Harry Potter books after being a fan for 17 years. The Phils Stone was one of the first books I EVER read," one Twitter user wrote. "I'm upset it has to be that way.. You embarrassed me, disgusted me, and I will never read your work again."

"Guess it’s true what they say," responded Rowling. "You can lead a girl to books about the rise and fall of an autocrat, but you still can't make her think."

After another user said he was "glad" he found out about her stance and would "burn your books and movies too" in retaliation, Rowling had a witty comeback.

"Well, the fumes from the DVDs might be toxic and I've still got your money, so by all means borrow my lighter," she said.

After some fans stepped up to defend her and said they would be buying "2 copies for every book to make up for this," Rowling joked: "Actually, we're thinking of selling them in pairs in future; a 'read one, burn one' deal for those who like the magic, but not the morals."

"I'd just like to thank everyone sending me lovely messages, which greatly outnumber the bad ones," she added.
