Jay Leno on Conan's TBS Deal: 'I Knew He'd Land On His Feet'

Jay Leno says he always knew that Conan O'Brien would find a new late night television home.

"I knew he'd land on his feet," Leno tells Access Hollywood. "It'll be fun. Everybody will compete."

"I think it’ll be great," says of Conan's new TBS show, which will air Mondays through Thursdays at 11 PM. "He's a very funny guy."

Jay doesn't think the move from network to cable television will make a huge difference. Conan was originally rumored to going to Fox but that fell apart after not all its affiliates were ready to take on a late night show.

"I didn't know what to think. I mean, well, Fox is network but they have cable too, so, you know, it’s all sort of the same now. Everybody sort of reaches the same thing, but I think it’s exciting. I think he’ll do well."

Meanwhile, the 'New York Post' reports that George Lopez, whose show will be moved to midnight to make room for Conan, isn’t as happy as he pretended to be when the news was announced.

In fact, the paper claims that TBS executives told Lopez that his show would be cancelled, if he didn't agree to being delayed an hour.

"George was initially opposed to the idea of moving his time slot to make room for Conan on TBS," a source tells the paper.

A TBS spokesperson says: "The claims are completely untrue. TBS has been unequivocal in its support for George Lopez. Conan O'Brien and his team also fully support George's show."

Interestingly, the spokesperson left out whether George Lopez 'fully supports' Conan's show.
