James Franco Calls New York Times Critic 'Little Bi--h' For Review

James Franco is blasting New York Times' Ben Brantley after the critic didn't give 'Of Mice and Men' on Broadway the review he wanted.

Brantley didn't give the play an overwhelmingly negative review but called it an "inert revival" of John Steinbeck's book and Franco's performance "often understated to the point of near invisibility."

To counter the review, Franco posted a photo with words from Variety's much more positive review and slammed the New York Times' critic underneath.

"Sadly Ben Brantley and the NYT have embarassed themselves," he wrote. "Brantley is such a little bi--h.

He should be working for Gawker instead of the paper of record. The theatre community hates him, and for good reason, he's an idiot."

Franco has since reposted the photo with the positive review but removed the rant that accompanied it.
