James Franco Arrives On 'Kimmel Live' In Hot Air Balloon For 'Oz'

James Franco dropped into 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' by arriving in a hot air ballon then walking on a yellow brick road to promote 'Oz the Great and Powerful' on Wednesday night.

Ironically, it was the first time Franco had been in a real hot air balloon since the film used a computer generated one.

The actor's grandma, who also filmed a scene in 'The Wizard of Oz' prequel, was also in the crowd for a brief exchange with Kimmel.

Franco went on to talk about his art and the two college classes he teaches each week before getting around to Oz.

He also explained (second video below) that he was coincidentally filming at Big Bear with his students when the shootout with fugitive ex-cop Christopher Dorner broke out nearby.

"In the movie, I was driving a sheriff's car, too, so it was really weird. And there were SWAT team trucks going right by where we were shooting," he said.

The Sam Raimi directed film has a release date of March 8.
