James Caan Leaves Movie After Argument Over Cookie Scene

James Caan has left the political comedy 'Nailed' after an argument on the set of the movie -- and it all over a scene that involved a cookie.

The trouble began on the first day of what was supposed to be a two day shoot for Caan's role of a US speaker of the house who chokes to death on a cookie. Director David O. Russell wanted Caan to cough as he choked on the cookie but Caan argued that the character couldn't cough and choke to death at the same time. Russell was adamant, but so was Caan.

Eventually, Russell suggested that they shoot the scene both ways and could decide which one to use later. But Caan was sure his version wouldn't make it in the movie, told Russell he simply said this to shut him up and stormed off the set.

Caan's spokesperson won't confirm the reports but admits there were "creative differences" and that Caan will no longer be in the movie. Caan's part is now being recast.

'Nailed' tells the story of a woman who gets a nail lodged in her head and travels to Washington to fight for better health care. It stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Jessica Biel (photosJessica Biel photos) in the lead.
