Injury Forces Dick Van Dyke To Cancel LA Production

Dick Van Dyke has been forced to cancel the entire run of his one-man show due to an injury.

Van Dyke will be unable to perform because of an injury to his Achilles tendon, which reportedly began bothering him last week.

The actor even performed in the preview show Wednesday night, however, that's when he aggravated the injury and realized he wouldn't be able to do the show's month-long run.

As a result, the theater has been forced to cancel 'Dick Van Dyke - Step in Time: A Musical Memoir'.

In a statement, Van Dyke, who turns 85 on Monday, says he has been advised to stay off his feet but hopes he has the chance to get back on stage at some point.

"Perhaps there will be an opportunity to revisit this sometime in the future, but in the meantime, I thank everyone for their understanding and support."

The show, which was to feature stories and songs from Van Dyke's celebrated career, had been scheduled to run through January 16, 2011.
