Hugh Laurie To Play Villain In 'Robocop' Remake

Hugh Laurie has joined Jose Padilha's 'Robocop' remake as its evil villain.

The 'House' star joins a cast that already includes Joel Kinnaman as Alex Murphy/Robocop, best known for 'The Killing', Gary Oldman as the scientist, Abbie Cornish and Samuel L. Jackson as a media mogul.

While Abbie Cornish has been cast as Alex Murphy's wife, who believes he's dead after an on duty accident.

Laurie will play the wealthy owner of Omnicorp, the company that makes Robocop.

The actor has more times to do feature films after wrapping up 'House's eight season run on Fox.

The film, which will begin filming in the next few months, is aiming for a release date of August 9, 2013.
