Hugh Jackman Reveals He Turned Down Chance To Be James Bond

Hugh Jackman has revealed he was in the running to be the next James Bond after Pierce Brosnan but turned down the role.

"I got a call from my agent saying, 'There is some possible interest in you for Bond. Are you interested?,'" he says in an interview. "At the time, I wasn't."

"I was about to shoot X-Men 2 and Wolverine had become this thing in my life. I didn't want to be doing two such iconic characters at once."

The role in 'Casino Royale', which rebooted the franchise, ultimately went to British actor Daniel Craig.

But the 43-year-old Jackman hinted he may be open to playing the iconic spy if the chance ever came up again.

"I think every male at some point thinks about playing James Bond," he said. "So it was not right then, but it may be right if it comes back."

Meanwhile, the 23rd Bond film, rumored to be called 'Skyfall' with Javier Bardem as the villain, is slated for a 2012 release.
