Hugh Hefner Files For Divorce After Decade Of Separation

Hugh Hefner has filed for divorce more than a decade after being separated from his wife, Kimberly Conrad.

The 'Playboy' founder has been paying Kimberly $40,000 a month since they went their separate ways in 1998. They were married in 1989 and have two sons together.

The move comes a month after she sued Hefner, claiming he owes her $4 million from the sale of their private Holmby Hills residence next door to the Playboy Mansion.

The 7,300-square-foot home with five bedrooms and seven bathrooms sold for $18 million in August.

In his filing, the 83-year-old denies that he owes Conrad any money and says that he has paid her almost $12 million since their separation, including a lump sum of $750,000 when they first separated.

Hefner also contends that his spousal support be cut to $20,000 a month because, in addition to the monthly payments, he has been paying for his children's school expenses even though they are now both in college.

The publishing mogul recently said that he would have been "happy to divorce when we separated" but his wife "wanted to remain married for our boys," even if he's officially dating teenage twins Karissa and Kristina Shannon.

The court documents also point out that Hefner earns over $250,000 a month from the magazine, other investments and his social security.
