Howard Stern Praises Hospitalized Sidekick Artie Lange

Howard Stern spoke out on Monday about his ailing friend and sidekick, Artie Lange, who was hospitalized over the weekend.

Stern wouldn't reveal why Lange had been hospitalized in New Jersey but he did have some kind words for Lange.

"We all have our demons," Stern said, referring to Lange's battles with substance abuse.

"Artie has given this show tremendous moments of great comedy. He's a tremendous contributor. He is a good man. Don't forget how great he is."

"He is the most loving guy, always giving," added cohost Robin Quivers.

Stern also vehemently dispelled rumors that Lange had quit the show and was about to be replaced by Jim Breuer.

"Absolutely false," he said. "I don't know where that comes from."

The 42-year-old has been absent from Stern's Sirius radio show for a month. In September, a judge revoked his driving privileges for seven months after he admitted he was under the influence of prescribed sleeping pills in a minor traffic accident.

There has been speculation that this Lange's addiction is the reason for his hospitalization. However, Lange's publicist would only say "Artie has chosen to keep all information on this matter between him and his doctor."
