Harry Potter Fans Not Happy With Movie's Eight-Month Delay

Harry Potter fans are not happy with the sixth film in the series, 'Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince', having been pushed back to July 2009.

The film was originally slated to be released on November 21, and the studio even released the movie's first trailer at the end of July promoting the date. However, last week Warner Bros. said it believed the "summer season is an ideal window for a family tent pole release" and pushed back the release date.

And 'Harry Potter' fans who have been eagerly waiting for the next installment of the series are upset. One such user on MuggleNet, a fan website, says he is "Totally disgusted by WB's decision" and "totally convinced that the decision was motivated by money and only money."

While another has started an online petition, one that has picked up steam and collected over 40,000 signatures. Many are even planning to protest outside Warner's corporate headquarters, and boycotting the studio's movies altogether (see a fan video below):

However, 'Fox News' has its own conspiracy theory. They claim the real reason for the movie's delay is because in November Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe will be right in the middle of run on Broadway in the play 'Equus', and since Radcliffe appears nude in the play, that's not the image Warner Bros. wants around when the movie is released.

But by the time 'Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince' debuts in its new date of July, 'Equus' will either have "concluded its run or Radcliffe will have completed his contract."
