Harrison Ford and Steven Spielberg To Return For 'Indiana Jones 5'

'Indiana Jones' is looking to whip back into theaters with Harrison Ford reprising the role and Steven Spielberg directing.

Disney has announced that it is working on a fifth film in the adventure series set to open on July 19, 2019.

The 73-year-old Ford will return as the famous archaeologist after Spielberg repeatedly saying Ford could never be replaced. The announcement comes just months after Ford returned reprised Han Solo in 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens', another role he hadn't taken on in decades.

Disney, which owns the franchise after buying Lucasfilm, made the move as its only logical choice to move the franchise forward after 2008's failed 'Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull', starring Shia LaBeouf as Jones' son.

"Indiana Jones is one of the greatest heroes in cinematic history, and we can't wait to bring him back to the screen in 2019," says Alan Horn, chairman of the Walt Disney Studios.

"It's rare to have such a perfect combination of director, producers, actor and role, and we couldn't be more excited to embark on this adventure with Harrison and Steven."

Famed archaeologist and explorer Indiana Jones was first introduced in 1981's 'Raiders of the Lost Ark'. Ford will be in his high 70s by the time the new film is released in 2019 and the studio is no doubt hoping to transition the franchise to a younger star not named LeBouf.

Disney's statement also makes no mention of creator George Lucas so it's a fair bet, that much like the new 'Star Wars', he won't be involved.
