'Harper's Island' Moved To Saturday Night By CBS

CBS is moving 'Harper's Island' from Thursdays to Saturday nights, starting May 2.

This after ratings for the mystery thriller, which had a big opening couple of weeks, have steadily declined with each episode and going head to head with NBC's 'Southland' has proved a difficult task.

CBS says it will give them "an opportunity to improve the time period on Thursday while experimenting with more original programming on Saturday and continuing to serve an audience that is clearly engaged in the ongoing 'Harper's Island' story."

"Our numbers suggest a passionate audience for Harper's outside its current Thursday time period borders."

The network plans to air all the remaining episodes but will do so on Saturday nights, including the finale which is now set for July 11.

It's probably fair to say that if the show wasn't a 13-week limited run series, the network would have cancelled it outright instead of giving fans the remaining episodes and a resolution to the story. So while that means we won't see any follow-up seasons, in all likelihood, there is a silver lining to the limited episodes.
