Hans Zimmer Receives Apology From Composer After Winning Copyright Lawsuit

Hans Zimmer has received an apology after winning a copyright infringement case against him.

Richard Friedman, a fellow composer, had sued the Oscar-winner over the music to '12 Years a Slave' claiming that he was misled by the conclusion of a music expert.

"I sincerely apologize to you for bringing the lawsuit and for the time and expense you incurred in its defense," says Friedman, who composes music for film and television.

Zimmer says he's gratified by the outcome.

"I hope this case's successful conclusion will persuade other artists who face similar claims that justice can be achieved," says the legendary composer.

"I also hope that this dismissal will discourage other plaintiffs who may be motivated by recent high-profile music copyright lawsuits from filing meritless infringement claims."
