Grammy Winners 2009 List Dominated By Robert Plant And Alison Krauss

The unlikely pairing of Robert Plant and Alison Krauss that produced the hit album 'Raising Sand', on Sunday won five Grammys including album of the year.

In fact, Plant won more Grammy Awards collaborating with folk singer Krauss than he did as a member of 1970s hard-rock powerhouse Led Zeppelin. "I'm bewildered. In the old days we would have called this selling out, but I think it's a good way to spend a Sunday," he said. Krauss added there was "never a dull moment" with the 60-year-old singer.

Lil Wayne, who led everyone with eight nominations, took home four awards, including best rap album for 'Tha Carter III'. While Coldplay won three awards, including best rock album for 'Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends'. The group's lead singer Chris Martin told the audience: "We feel so grateful to be here. I'm going to tear up."

Rihanna (photosRihanna photos) and Chris Brown, who were both nominated for awards and scheduled to perform, didn't attend the event after the Los Angeles Police Department announced that Brown was the subject of an investigation into a felony domestic violence battery. Brown was arrested Sunday and was released after posting bail. An ensemble of Al Green, Justin Timberlake, Boyz II Men and Keith Urban performed 'Let's Stay Together' in place of Rihanna.

Grammy organizers booked U2, Paul McCartney and the Jonas Brothers to increase the show’s viewership after last year’s event drew the third-smallest audience since 1971. The television broadcast from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, included awards for only a dozen of the 110 categories.

Check out the list of televised and a number of non-televised Grammy winners below.
