'Glee's Cory Monteith Checks Into Rehab For Substance Addiction

'Glee' star Cory Monteith, who hasn't tried to hide his past substance abuse, has entered rehab for substance addiction.

"Cory Monteith has voluntarily admitted himself into a treatment facility," says his rep. "He graciously asks for your respect and privacy as he takes the necessary steps towards recovery."

In 2011, the 30-year-old actor told Parade magazine he was fortunate to be alive.

"I'm lucky on so many counts. I'm lucky to be alive," he said of what he dealt with after dropping out of high school at the age of 16. "I was out of control."

"I did anything and everything, as much as possible. I had a serious problem."

"I don't want kids to think it's okay to drop out of school and get high, and they'll be famous actors, too. But for those people who might give up: Get real about what you want and go after it."

Girlfriend and 'Glee' co-star says Lea Michele (photosLea Michele photos) says: "I love and support Cory and will stand by him through this. I am grateful and proud he made this decision."

With 'Glee's final two episodes of the season yet to shoot, it's not clear whether Monteith will appear in the episodes or producers will write in his absence.
