George Michael Apologizes For 'Screwing Up' After Drug Arrest

Singer George Michael has apologized to his fans for "screwing up again."

Though Michael didn't directly reference his an arrest for drug possession, a story that was widely reported in the British media over the weekend, there is little doubt that's what he was talking about.

"I want to apologize to my fans for screwing up again, and to promise them I'll sort myself out," he said in a statement: "And to say sorry to everybody else, just for boring them."

Michael was arrested in a public toilet in north London after he was found in possession of crack cocaine and cannabis.

It's not the first time that the 45-year-old has been in trouble with the law, in 2006 he was found slumped over the wheel of his car due to drugs and was banned from driving for two years.

'The Sun' reports that the singer begged police not to charge him and quotes a source: "He was very emotional. He kept saying, 'Please, you'll ruin my career’. His sob story worked – he escaped with a caution. He was even chauffeured home. He only got away with it because of his celebrity status."
