Gary Coleman Was Divorced When His 'Wife' Pulled The Plug

Shannon Price was by Gary Coleman's side at a Utah hospital on Friday, when she authorized doctors to take him off life support. But it's now coming out that she may not have had the right to make the call.

"I can confirm they've been divorced since August 12, 2008," attorney Randy Kester, who handled the divorce, tells 'People' magazine. "At the time of Gary's death, they were not married. I have no knowledge if they were ever remarried."

"Gary wanted me to keep their divorce private," Kester says, "but now that some documents have made public, I'm compelled to say it's all true."

The revelation that they were not married calls into question whether Price had the authority to make any medical decisions for Coleman. The diminutive actor was taken off life support Friday with Price's permission.

The Utah Valley Regional Medical Center says Price was allowed to make the decision because Coleman granted her permission to make medical decisions while they were married. And since he didn't revoke it, it remained in effect even after the divorce.

But that's just half the story. Much of what happened the day of Gary Coleman's tragic accident remains a mystery. Coleman ended up on life support after a brain hemorrhage from a fall at his home.

In fact, the 911 call released by authorities reveals that Price vehemently resisted giving Coleman medical help when he needed it most.

"He just got home, I heard this big bang, I went downstairs. Blood everywhere," Price says in the call. "I don't know if he's okay. I'm not down there right now because I have a fever, if I get stressed out I'm going to faint."

"I'm gagging, I got blood on myself, I can't deal," she says as emergency crews arrive.

No one is aware of a will for Coleman and Kester says the actor had coincidentally called him about the need to work on one as recently as last month.
