FXX Plans 12-Day 522 Episode 'The Simpsons' Marathon

FXX is planning a marathon broadcast of 'The Simpsons' this summer that will air 552 episodes of the animated comedy consecutively over 12 days.

The network has announced that to celebrate its purchase of rerun rights, it will begin airing 'Simpsons' episodes on August 21 and run them until Labor Day on September 1.

"It will be the longest continuous marathon in the history of television," says chief executive of FX Networks, Jon Landgraf. "We don't care that other people had them first, we spent a lot of money and we're going to rock them."

FXX reportedly paid $750 million to become the first cable network with syndication rights for 'The Simpsons'. It will also make episodes available via its video on demand.

After the run, FXX will air four hours of the long-running series every Sunday, before the new episode of the night on Fox.
