Fox Orders 'Prison Break' Return and Pilot For '24' Without Jack Bauer
The sequel will be helmed by original series creator Paul Scheuring. However, due to the stars' roles in CW's 'Legends of Tomorrow', production won't get started until close to spring at the latest. "Right now we're thinking nine episodes," says Fox Chairman and CEO Dana Walden. "We're trying to carve out our production schedule. Wentworth and Dom are obviously in CW shows right now so we're trying to work our production schedule around theirs. Hopefully we're thinking late March." "The story unravels on an international landscape. It's not a domestic show. It's exciting. I'm hoping that we'll see many of the great characters from that series return throughout the season." "It just has all the twists and turns that I think you’ve come to expect from that show. Again, we open on a very international, very contemporary feeling story." Walden also promised the show would address how Michael Scofield's character is still alive after revealing the series finale that he had a brain tumor, explaining his do-or-die attitude throughout the drama. "I actually was prepared for this question," Walden said. "We were laughing about how many times they've broken out of prison so it's not a documentary but they do address it." Meanwhile, Fox has also given the greenlight to a '24' pilot that would continue the story without Kiefer Sutherland's Jack Bauer. '24: Legacy' will tell the story centering around a military hero who returns home to find his life in danger. He turns to the CTU for help and becomes entangled in one of the largest-scale terror attacks on American soil. Fox has officially ordered its 'Prison Break' sequel that will see the return of stars Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell.
