Fox and MLB Team Up For New Female Baseball Pitcher Pilot 'Pitch'
The drama about MLB's first female player will star Kylie Bunbury as Ginny, who makes the San Diego Padres to break the league's gender barrier. And thanks to its agreement with MLB, the show will not only film at Petco Park in San Diego, the real-life home of the Padres, but also use MLB logos, uniforms, teams, stadiums and even game footage. The show is hoping real-life MLB stars will guest star on the series if it's picked up. "We really embraced the show’s concept as it’s consistent with our continuing efforts of inclusion throughout our game," MLB's Chris Tully tells THR. "We’ve seen the baseball world celebrate accomplishments and the USA Women's National Baseball Team, so we know there’s a very strong entertainment market for this kind of storyline." The network and MLB are both hoping the drama will not only bring male viewers but also draw in the female demographic with its premise. Fox and Major League Baseball have teamed up for the network's upcoming pilot for baseball drama 'Pitch'.
