'Fear Factor' To Return With New Episodes In December

'Fear Factor' will return with what NBC is calling a "bigger and more outrageous" version of the reality series, on December 12.

"We have taken the groundbreaking 'Fear Factor' franchise that many fans remember fondly and have ramped it up to make it even more challenging and competitive than ever before," says NBC's President of Alternative Programming, Paul Telegdy.

"Once again, the contestants will have to face their ultimate fears to prevail -- and the tension and drama of that process will make for some riveting television."

"The stunt and camera technologies have evolved since then, we're going to be able to make it even bigger. We're going to make it more visually arresting. We don't necessarily need to do the stuff with maximum shock value."

Hosted once again by Joe Rogan, each episode of will include four teams of two each competing against each another. The tandem who wins the final challenge will take home a $50,000 prize as before.

Some of the new stunts viewers will see include the 'Towering Inferno' and the 'Helicopter TNT Crash'.
