FBI Releases Statement On Brad Pitt's Child Abuse Allegations

The FBI has confirmed it is collection information about an incident involving Brad Pitt and his family aboard a private flight last week.

The agency is still evaluating whether to open an investigation into allegations that Pitt was abusive to one of his six children with actress Angelina Jolie (photosAngelina Jolie photos) Pitt during the flight.

"In response to your inquiry regarding allegations within the special aircraft jurisdiction of the United States; specifically, an aircraft carrying Mr. Brad Pitt and his children, the FBI is continuing to gather facts and will evaluate whether an investigation at the federal level will be pursued," the statement read.

The FBI has jurisdiction over the situation because the alleged incident happened in the air.

The Los Angeles Police Department has said, contrary to reports, it is not handling any report or allegations into child abuse for Brad Pitt.

The altercation was said to be the "final straw" for Jolie, who filed for divorce this week.

Their six children include 15-year-old Maddox, 12-year-old Pax, 11-year-old Zahara, 10-year-old Shiloh, and 8-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne.
