ESPN Apologizes For Musburger's Commentary About AJ McCarron's Girlfriend

ESPN is apologizing after broadcaster Brent Musburger delivered an extended commentary gushing about Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron's girlfriend during the BCS game on Monday night.

"You see that lovely lady there?," said Musburger as cameras focused on Miss Alabama USA Katherine Webb. "She does go to Auburn, she's Miss Alabama but that's also AJ McCarron's girlfriend."

"Wow, I tell you, you quarterbacks, you get all the good-looking women!," said Musburger as cameras focused on Miss Alabama USA Katherine Webb.

"What a beautiful woman! Wow! Whoa! So if you're a youngster at Alabama, start getting the football out and throw it around the backyard with pop," he continued.

"Wow, AJ's doing some things right," added fellow commentator Kirk Herbstreit.

After the remarks drew criticism from some circles for their "objectification," ESPN agreed Musburger may have gotten a little carried away.

“We always try to capture interesting storylines and the relationship between an Auburn grad who is Miss Alabama and the current Alabama quarterback certainly met that test," the network says in a statement.

"However, we apologize that the commentary in this instance went too farm and Brent understands that."

Meanwhile, not willing to let an opportunity slip, Miss USA owner Donald Trump says he plans to invite Webb to judge the upcoming event in Las Vegas.

"Miss Alabama, Katherine Webb, has been a truly great representative of the Miss USA Organization," he says. "We are proud of her. What a great couple... Katherine Webb and AJ McCarron. They are both winners."
