Erykah Badu's Nude Music Video Gets Her $500 Fine

Erykah Badu will pay a $500 fine and serve six months of probation for getting naked while filming the video for 'Window Seat'.

The 39-year-old singer was issued a disorderly conduct citation after a witness filed a complaint after seeing Erykah Badu nude in the location where John F. Kennedy was assassinated.

In the video, Badu strips as she walks along the sidewalk in Dallas's Dealey Plaza. After she removes all of her clothing, she pretends to be shot in the head and falls to the ground near where Kennedy was fatally wounded in 1963.

Many took the singer's video as a sign of disrespect towards Kennedy, but the native of Dallas says her intentions were misunderstood.

"There were children there," she first admits of her nude video. "I prayed they wouldn't be traumatized... people were yelling, this is a public place, you ought to be ashamed, put your clothes on."

"But I would never disrespect JFK," she says. "His revolutionary thinking is my inspiration. My performance art has been grossly misinterpreted by many."

"My point was grossly misunderstood all over America.. JFK is one of my heroes, one of the nation’s heroes. He was a revolutionary. He was not afraid to butt heads with America, and I was not afraid to show America my butt-naked truth."
