Emma Stone: I Turned Down 'Ghostbusters' Because 'It's a Whole Thing'

Who you gonna call? Not Emma Stone. The actress has confirmed reports that she turned down a role in 'Ghostbusters'.

Stone admits she was pursued for the all-female Ghostbusters reboot directed by Paul Feig but says she passed because she didn't want to get tied down with a franchise.

"The script was really funny," said Stone. "It just didn't feel like the right time for me."

"A franchise is a big commitment it's a whole thing. I think maybe I need a minute before I dive back into that water."

The actress, who played Gwen Stacy in Sony's two Amazing Spider-Man films, says she would be open to appearing in the film but only if meant she wouldn't be locked into the franchise.

"That would be amazing," she says when asked if a villain would fit that description. "I would love that."

The 'Ghostbusters' reboot, starring Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones, has a release date of July 22, 2016.
