Eminem To Fly Laid-Off Autoworkers To Jimmy Kimmel Show

Eminem and Jimmy Kimmel will fly about 200 laid-off autoworkers to Los Angeles for Friday's taping of his appearance on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!'.

The rapper, who is originally from Detroit, says he and Kimmel want to remind everyone of the people being hit the hardest.

"In all the media coverage Detroit is getting, everyone forgets about the people that have lost their jobs without getting big cash payouts after dedicating themselves to the auto industry," Eminem tells the 'Detroit Free Press'.

"Jimmy Kimmel and I got to talking, and we wanted to remind everyone that there are real people affected by what's going on in Detroit, and try to show some of them a good time while we're at it."

Eminem and Kimmel will fly the autoworkers from Michigan and Ohio to Hollywood for the show, then they'll be invited to a special show in Detroit next week.

One autoworker, Jon Michael Zapf, says the workers are from tier 2 and 3 auto plants, who do not enjoy the benefits of sub-pay they would enjoy in a tier 1 company.

"He is flying us out, all expenses paid, for the show to put a face on the American auto workers who are affected by this hardship," says Zapf. "He is supposed to do a meet and greet and sign autographs."

Eminem is in the midst of a publicity blitz to promote his new album 'Relapse' that will include a weekend appearance on Fox's 'Animation Domination' with co-host Stewie, and two more appearances on Kimmel's show next week.
