Eminem & Bruno's MTV Movie Awards Stunt Was Staged, Says Writer

The weekend's MTV Movie Awards got everyone wondering whether the now infamous Mine and Bruno stunt was staged or if the rapper had advance warning of the ass-up landing.

We pointed out that all indications were that the stunt was included in rehearsals so there was a good chance it was no more than a publicity stunt for Bruno as well as Eminem's new album.

And now, according to the show's head writer, Scott Aukerman, that was exactly what happened.

"Yes, the Mine/Bruno incident was staged," Aukerman wrote on his personal website -- before the post was promptly taken down, presumably after he was forced to adhere with MTV's post-show claim that it wasn't staged.

"That's all anyone wants to talk about, so let's get it out of the way. They rehearsed it at dress and yes, it went as far as it did on the live show then."

Aukerman also mentions an opening bit they worked on for the show in which Andy Samberg would have roasted Paul Rudd to the point of anger.

"It played on his 'nice guy' image. Andy would start off with gentle slams, but then get meaner and meaner. This played really well in rehearsal and got a big reaction from the crowd. But unfortunately, Paul was never quite into it."

"He was cool enough to have probably went ahead with it if Andy had pressed him to, but neither of us wanted Paul to do something he wasn't 100% into doing."

Aukerman adds that he would love to be back next year, along with Samberg, who should be invited back to host next year's awards because he did such a great job and "worked harder than any host for that show ever has." But we somehow doubt MTV would want Aukerman back after he just spilled the beans.
