Ellen DeGeneres Helps Terminally Ill Comedian Quincy Jones Land HBO Special

Ellen DeGeneres is once again demonstrating why she's America's favorite talk show host.

DeGeneres is helping aspiring 32-year-old comedian Quincy Jones, who was told he has one year to live after being diagnosed with stage 4 mesothelioma cancer, realize his dream.

"Here's the thing that you mentioned last time, you want to do a comedy special," DeGeneres told Jones. "So what you don't know is that we called the head of HBO."

"And your people didn't even tell you this, but HBO is going to air your special."

"You're lying. Are you serious? Are you?," replied Jones.

"All the negotiations have been happening, your people know that, but they kept it from you because we wanted to surprise you," she explained. "HBO was like, 'Yes, of course we'll air it!'"

"Oh my God. That's the best surprise," Jones said. "Thank you so much."

The special is currently slated to air sometime in the spring.
