Elaine Stritch Drops F-Word on 'Today' Show's Live Broadcast

During an appearance on NBC's Today show with Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb, octogenarian actress Elaine Stritch dropped the F-word.

Stritch was on the program to promote her new documentary 'Shoot Me', when, ironically, Gifford said Stritch was well known for saying whatever comes to mind.

"You are so beloved of course for your work, but as much for your mouth," Gifford said. "You say whatever you want to say."

"If you just say things naturally, it's fine. You know, they just think in f***," replied the 89-year-old.

"Oh, dear!," Gifford exclaimed as co-host Hoda Kotb attempted to quickly move on.

Seeing the hosts scrambling, Stritch casually said: "No, I meant a serious point by that!"

With the eastern broadcast airing live, without a tape delay, the flub made it on air unedited. Although it was edited for later broadcasts.
