Dr. Phil Convinces 'Golden Voice' Ted Williams To Head Back To Rehab

Ted Williams, the man whose golden voice helped him go from being homeless to voicing multiple products and networks in the span of a week, is headed to rehab after an appearance on 'Dr. Phil'.

A rep for the television psychologist, who had Williams on his show this week, says Dr. Phil convinced Williams to get treatment for drug and alcohol abuse after a "lengthy one-on-one conversation."

"If Ted is ever going to get better, he's got to be honest with himself and admit he's addicted to drugs and alcohol," says McGraw. "I've told him it's not going to be easy and it's going to take a lot of hard work. It might be a long journey for him, but this is a big step in the right direction."

This decision came shortly after Williams admitted on the show that despite declaring his sobriety while making the media rounds, his problem is very much an ongoing one.

The Brooklyn native began drinking and using drugs in 1996 and consequently lost his radio job and his home. He recently claimed he's been sober for nearly two years.

The troubled voiceover star was also briefly detained by police in Hollywood this week after a report of disturbance at a Los Angeles hotel. Williams has a rap sheet that includes theft, robbery, forgery and drug possession. No charges were filed.
