Dolly Parton Postpones Her Tour Due to Back Problems

Dolly Parton has been forced to postpone a concert tour she planned in for her new CD 'Backwoods Barbie' due to back problems.

The tour was scheduled to kick off on February 28 in Minneapolis, two days after the release of her CD.

The 62-year-old Parton says doctors have advised her to take up to eight weeks off to recover.

“But hey, you try wagging these puppies around awhile and see if you don’t have back problems. I know I have been breaking my neck and bending over backwards trying to get my new CD and world tour together, but I didn't mean to hurt myself doing it," she joked in a statement.

However, Parton has suffered from back pain over her career and, in the past she's acknowleged that while her large DD chest has helped her career it's also been a source of some back problems: "My breasts have served me well - I don't know if I'm supporting them or they're supporting me. But of course I've had them jacked up a bit. And they're part of the persona. It always takes a bit of pressure off me."

In 2004, she considered having breast reduction surgery to relieve the pressure on her back but didn't want to change her assets: "My boobs are killing me - and I don't know if I can stand the pain any longer. They have been a trademark for me - but I've paid one hell of a price."

Parton says doctors tell her she will be "good as new" in a few weeks, and the tour will be rescheduled for late April through May.
