David Carradine has been found dead in Bangkok, Thailand.

The officer responsible for investigating the death, Teerapop Luanseng, says the 72-year-old actor, who was staying at the luxury Swissotel Nai Lert Park Hotel, was found "naked, hanging in the closet."

A preliminary police investigation found that he wad hanged using a cord with the room's curtains.

Police reports say he had been dead at least 12 hours and there was no sign that he had been assaulted.

David Carradine's manager says he was in Bangkok shooting the movie 'Stretch'. He was best known for his role in the 1970s television series 'Kung Fu' and the 'Kill Bill' movies.

"It is shocking to me that he is no longer with us," said Michael Madsen, who played an assassin in 'Kill Bill'.

"I had been thinking about calling him for the last several days... I have so many great memories of David that I wouldn't even know where to begin . He has a very special place in my heart."

Hotel staff began looking for Carradine after he failed to appear for a meal with the rest of the film crew.
