Daniel Tosh Apologizes For Rape Joke At Comedy Show

Daniel Tosh has apologized for joking about rape during a Los Angeles comedy show.

"All the out-of-context misquotes aside, I'd like to sincerely apologize," Tosh says. "The point I was making before I was heckled is there are awful things in the world but you can still make jokes about them."

The incident happened after Tosh, who has a Comedy Central show called 'Tosh.0', made a generalized statement about rape jokes "always being funny."

One woman took issue with the observation and yelled out "actually, rape jokes are never funny!"

But that prompted Tosh to not only go after the woman, but his weapon of choice was a rape joke aimed at her.

"Wouldn't it be funny if that girl got raped by, like, five guys right now?," he said. "Like right now? What if a bunch of guys just raped her."

The woman and her friend stood up and left the show but the exchange left her uncomfortable enough to share her thoughts after the show.

"I should probably add that having to basically flee while Tosh was enthusing about how hilarious it would be if I was gang-raped in that small, claustrophobic room was pretty viscerally terrifying and threatening all the same, even if the actual scenario was unlikely to take place," she says.

"The suggestion of it is violent enough and was meant to put me in my place."

The manager of the comedy club did not refund the pair's tickets but provided them free tickets for another show.
