Dakota Johnson and Charlie Hunnam To Star In 'Fifty Shades of Grey' Movie

'Fifty Shades of Grey' author E. L. James has announced that Dakota Johnson and Charlie Hunnam will star in the big screen adaptation of the erotic novel.

Johnson, who is the daughter of Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith starred in the short-lived Fox sitcom 'Ben and Kate', will play Anastasia Steele opposite 'Sons of Anarchy' star Charlie Hunnam as Christian Grey.

Hunnam also played Raleigh Becket in this summer's sci-fi adventure Pacific Rim.

For those unfamiliar with the erotic romance novel, it is the first instalment in a series that traces the deepening relationship between a college graduate, Anastasia Steele, and a young business magnate, Christian Grey.

It made headlines following its release for its explicitly erotic scenes including bondage, dominance/submission and sadism/masochism. It has sold over 70 million copies worldwide and helped James rocket to the top of the highest earning author lists.

Bret Easton Ellis, a friend of the author, says Robert Pattinson was James' first choice to portray the 27-year-old billionaire.

This is the first official casting news from the film, which has a planned release date of August 1, 2014.
