Dakota Fanning Cast In 'Twilight' Sequel 'New Moon'

Dakota Fanning has been cast in the sequel to the first 'Twilight' movie, titled 'New Moon'.

Rumors first began to circulate over a month ago, alongwith Vanessa Hudgens (photosVanessa Hudgens photos) and the names of various other actresses, but the move has just been made official.

The 15-year-old actress, whose breakthrough performance came in 'I Am Sam', will play Jane, a member of the Volturi -- an Italian group of vampires who ensure that humans don't find out about their existence.

She's the youngest person to ever have be nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award, and began transitioning to more adult roles with 'Hounddog' and is coming fresh off her performance in 'The Secret Life of Bees'.

Dakota talked about the possibility of landing the role back in January: "I think it’s too soon to tell if I'll for sure be doing it, but it's so great. Pretty much all my friends are big fans."

"I don’t think they'll have to put a lot of makeup on me," she joked. "I'm pretty white already."

The second installment of the Stephenie Meyer phenom is going into production soon for what is expected to be a November 20 release.
