Conan O'Brien Ends 'Tonight Show' Stint With Classy Farewell Speech

Conan O'Brien ended his seven month stint on 'The Tonight Show' with a heartfelt and classy farewell.

The comedian thanked NBC for the opportunity to host 'Tonight', a lifelong dream of his, and gave an emotional thanks to his fans as he almost choked up at one point.

Conan said he was especially grateful for the support his fans showed, in the midst of his decision to leave the show rather than be pushed back to 12:05 AM.

"Yes, we have our differences right now and yes, we're going to go our separate ways," he said. "But this company has been my home for most of my adult life. I am enormously proud of the work we have done together, and I want to thank NBC for making it all possible."

".A lot of people have been asking me about my state of mind. I'll be honest with you, walking away from the Tonight Show is the hardest thing I have ever had to do. I did it my way, with people I love. I do not regret one second of anything we've done here."

"I have had more good fortune than anyone I know and if our next gig is in a 7-Eleven parking lot, we will find a way to make it fun."

"All I ask is one thing, and I'm asking this particularly of young people that watch: Please do not be cynical. I hate cynicism. For the record, it's my least favorite quality."

"It doesn't lead anywhere. Nobody in life gets exactly what they thought they were going to get. But if you work really hard and you're kind, I'm telling you, amazing things will happen."
