CNN's Wolf Blitzer: Apparent That McCain Has Disdain For Obama

Following the second presidential debate between John McCain and Barack Obama, supporters of the Democratic candidate are wondering whether McCain has respect for his opponent.

This after McCain referred to Obama as 'that one', a reference that the news networks endlessly replayed moments after the debate.

Obama strategist David Axelrod told ABC he thought it was 'odd': "Senator Obama has a name," he said. "You'd expect your opponent to use that name."

And if you were watching the CNN coverage, it would have been difficult to miss the post-debate handshake attempt as Obama reached out to shake McCain's hand, but had to shake wife Cindy's hand instead. Yes, the two shook hands earlier but that was when they knew the cameras were rolling so make of it what you will.

However, the moment prompted CNN's Wolf Blitzer to voice his opinion: "It's apparent that Senator McCain has some disdain, I think it's fair to say, for Senator Obama and that was very apparent throughout the course of this debate."

McCain was expected to come out on top with the town hall format being his strength, but early polls on CNN and CBS have Obama as winner of the debate (CNN: 54-30, CBS: 39-27). Which isn't something the Republicans can afford already trailing in national polls and losing ground in key battleground states that President Bush won in 2004 such as Virginia, Missouri and Florida.
