Clay Aiken To Be A Father Thanks To Artificial Insemination

Former 'American Idol' contestant Clay Aiken is going to be a father -- but what makes this story unusual is that the woman has been impregnated through artificial insemination.

The singer is expecting a baby with his longtime friend and record producer Jaymes Foster, who will be 50 in August. She executive produced Aiken's album 'A Thousand Different Ways' and is the sister of music kingpin David Foster.

While Aiken and Foster have been 'close friends' since Aiken's days on 'Idol', since Foster was impregnated through artificial insemination the persistent rumours that Clay Aiken is gay have once again sprung up.

And at this point you really can't help but wonder, but it could also just be a case of one friend helping another as Foster was previously married for 23 years and this is her first pregnancy.

Aiken has been quiet, however, David Foster's camp has already confirmed the news: "It is true Clay is the father. She was artificially inseminated by Clay. She's due in August. She looks great, glowing and very happy. She and Clay have been good friends for a long time," says his rep.

Clay Aiken came in a close second to Ruben Studdard during the show's second season.
