'Chuck', 'Dollhouse', 'Castle', 'Scrubs' Top List Of Renewals

Rest easy 'Chuck' and 'Dollhouse' fans, the two cult favorites which appeared to be destined for cancellation have been renewed.

NBC has picked up 13 episodes of the series featuring the Buy More geek. Although it has asked producers to cut costs to ensure a third season, which could mean some cast cuts coming early next seasons. However, given that the series has many secondary characters, losing one or two of them shouldn't take away significantly from the core of the show.

'Dollhouse', whose future seemed much more unlikely with ratings declining with every episode since its premiere, was also renewed by Fox for 13 episodes. For now, we're hearing it will stay on Friday although the show would most definitely need a boost to survive past this initial order.

It's probably one of the lowest-rated scripted dramas on a major broadcast network to get a second season, but network executives definitely owed creator Joss Whedon, after he made drastic changes to the first few episodes due to address their concerns.

Changes which we saw only slowed the story as the show hit its stride following the sixth episode. However, the Friday night lineup won't stay intact as 'Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles' is stopped in its tracks.

Over on ABC, midseason drama detective dramedy 'Castle' and veteran comedy 'Scrubs' have both been green lighted for another season. The move comes on the heels of ABC locking in most of the main cast members who had no deals beyond the current eighth season. Star Zach Braff is set to come back for six episodes to transition the show to new storylines centering on the younger doctors.

As more renewal and cancellation news trickles in over the next few days, we'll keep you posted.

Law & Order has now also been renewed for a record 20th season and Fox's 'Fringe' will now be moved to Thursday's.
