Christina Applegate Says She Kept Cancer Diagnosis A Secret

Christina Applegate appeared on 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show' Friday and told Ellen that kept her cancer diagnosis a secret for weeks and avoided hugs.

Applegate publicly revealed her diagnosis for breast cancer in August and had a double-mastectomy performed, before returning to work on 'Samantha Who?', but she mostly kept her diagnosis a secret.

"I told my make-up and hair people and people that are really close to me just so I had a protection wall so that no one was pushing me," Applegate told Ellen.

"I was really afraid of people hugging me," she said. "People are really huggy at those things."

"I apologize. I hugged you," said Ellen. "Really hard, too!" Applegate joked, before adding, "No you didn't."

"I have this ability to hunch. But now I'm good. I'll grab ya," she assured Ellen.

"I'm going to hug you a bunch during this commercial break," replied an enthusiastic Ellen.

Christina quipped, "Should we spoon, too?"
