Christina Applegate Quits Comedy 'Up All Night'

Christina Applegate is leaving her NBC comedy 'Up All Night'.

The news comes as a bit of a surprise, even though the show was on the cancellation bubble, because Applegate is a key component of the show.

"It's been a great experience working on Up All Night," Applegate says in a statement. "But the show has taken a different creative direction and I decided it was best for me to move on to other endeavors."

"Working with Lorne Michaels has been a dream come true and I am grateful he brought me into his TV family. I will miss the cast, producers and crew, and wish them the best always."

NBC has not weighed in on whether it will attempt to recast Applegate's role or cancel the show altogether.

The network said a couple of weeks ago that it would be revamp the comedy into a multi-camera comedy shot in front of a live studio audience. Series creator Emily Spivey and Tucker Cawley also recently parted ways with the series.
