Chinese Swimmer Fu Yuanhui Blames Her Period For Not Winning Medal At Olympics

Chinese swimmer Fu Yuanhui provided viewers a little too much information while speaking about her Olympics loss.

Yuanhui and her teammates came in fourth in the 4x100-meter medly relay. After the event, the swimmer told the reporter that she blamed her period for the loss.

"I feel I didn't swim well today. I let my teammates down," she said, clutching her stomach. "Because my period came yesterday, I'm feeling a bit weak, but this is not an excuse. I still did not swim as well as I should have."

The Chinese team finished the race in 3 minutes and 55.18 seconds, 0.17 seconds slower than Denmark.

Yuanhui was criticized for being overly candid by some while others appreciated it and said they felt for the swimmer.

She has become a sensation in China due to her over the top facial expressions during interviews.

In a cheerful interview after a personal best time in the 100 meter backstroke event that won her a bronze medal, Fu joked she used "all of my mystic energy" and said she was extremely satisfied with tying for third place with Kylie Masse.
