CBS Looking To Reboot 'MacGyver' With Director James Wan

CBS is looking to reboot the long-running 'MacGyver'.

The original series, which starred Richard Dean Anderson, ran for seven seasons on ABC between 1985 and 1992.

The reboot is in active development at the network with R. Scott Gemmill (JAG, ER, and NCIS) as showrunner and Henry Winkler, from the original, to executive produce.

The series is described as a reimagining of the television series of the same name, following a 20-something MacGyver as he gets recruited into a clandestine organization where he uses his knack for solving problems in unconventional ways to help prevent disasters from happening.

James Wan (Mortal Kombat, Saw) will executive produce and direct the pilot if the project is given the greenlight.
