CBS Wants 'Another Shot' After Passing On 'How I Met Your Dad'

At the Television Critics Association summer press tour on Thursday, CBS Chairman Nina Tassler hinted at what went wrong with the 'How I Met Your Dad' pilot and said she would want to give it another chance.

"We want to very much to stay in business with the show creators Craig Thomas and Carter Bays," she said. "We'd love the opportunity to take another shot."

CBS has wanted to redo the pilot since it passed on the show and Tassler hinted it was because the chemistry between the cast didn't quite work.

"Some things about this worked, some things didn't," she said. "As I said many, many times 'Big Bang' would not be 'Big Bang' without having redone that pilot."

That reference was to the addition to Kaley Cuoco (photosKaley Cuoco photos), who was not in the 'Big Bang Theory's first pilot.

CBS passed on the 'How I Met Your Mother' off-shoot, starring Greta Gerwig with Meg Ryan as narrator, in May.

It wanted to redo the pilot but didn't have enough time before its option to the comedy expired. Bays and Thomas have been shopping around the comedy to other networks since then.
